Who was it that coined the inappropriate phrase ‘child poverty’? The child has always been entirely reliant on its parents for pocket money, meals, toys, entertainment, and clothing. Children having poverty stricken parents existed in previous generations and most do not remember feeling unhappy or deprived. Parental love and involvement cost nothing. Rich parents are able to buy more toys but they often cannot find as much time as they would like involving themselves with their children. Conversely there are more opportunities for unemployed beneficiaries to provide quality time, hands-on education and entertainment for their children, hopefully ending the poverty cycle. Where child Poverty exists it is a poverty of spirit inherited from irresponsible, selfish or just plain ignorant parents. Giving them more money will not solve the problem.
